Durham Police identify Oshawa home fire murder victim

Durham Police homicide investigators have identified the victim located after a residential fire in Oshawa.

On March 6 at about 9:50 am, members of Central East Division responded to an address on Court Street after receiving a call to assist the Oshawa Fire Department.

Oshawa Fire was on scene for a house fire and were able to extinguish the blaze. One person was located in the home deceased, said a police statement.

Amaar Jawaid, age 22 of Oshawa is the fifth victim of homicide in Durham Region in 2023.
