Police say murder-fire victim could be of Asian descent

Durham Police investigators are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the fifth homicide victim of 2023.

On Monday, March 6 at around 9:50 am, members of Central East Division responded to an address on Court Street after receiving a call to assist the Oshawa Fire Department. Oshawa Fire was on scene for a house fire and were able to extinguish the blaze. One person was located in the home deceased, said a police statement.

Investigators have exhausted all traditional means of identification and are requesting the assistance of the public.

The victim is described as: male, approximately 25-years-old, 5’11” to 6”, 160 to 190 lbs. The victim’s hair was shaved at the sides with two long braids starting an inch back from his forehead. Possibly of southeast Asian descent and may go by the nickname of ‘Ox’.
