Durham Region CEO proceeding on medical leave

The Region of Durham yesterday announced that John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer, is proceeding on medical leave.

“Durham Regional Chair and CEO John Henry is taking a brief medical leave,” said the announcement without giving any further details.

During this time, it said, Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter will chair Regional Council and Committee of the Whole meetings, as per the guidelines within the Acting Regional Chair By-law #59-2022. Mayors from all of Durham’s local municipalities will continue to collaborate, promote and advance the region’s priorities.

Though no timeline for the resumption of duties was mentioned, the announcement said “Chair Henry looks forward to returning soon and advocating for Durham Region across all levels of government”.
