Part of Taunton Road to be fully closed for over a month

Durham Region is advising residents of a full road closure on a section of Taunton Road (Regional Road 4) in the Municipality of Clarington.

The road closure is part of the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction project and is required for the removal and replacement of a concrete culvert.

It will be in place on Taunton Road, specifically between Townline Road and Enfield Road from October 25 to November 29.

The entire Taunton Road rehabilitation and reconstruction project is currently anticipated for completion by summer 2026. The work schedule is subject to change due to unfavorable weather, the region said.

Traffic and Public Information

  • Detour Routes will be clearly posted to guide drivers around the closure.
  • Drivers are asked to exercise extreme caution in the area for the safety of work crews, cyclists, and pedestrians.
  • Residential access will be maintained whenever possible. Residents will be notified if a vehicle needs to be temporarily moved from a driveway.
  • Businesses in the area will remain open throughout the construction period.
