The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of periodic lane restrictions on Thickson Road South and a road closure on Burns Street East in the Town of Whitby.
- When: Lane restrictions on Thickson Road South are ongoing until September. Burns Street East will be closed from July 4 to August 5.
- Where: Lane restrictions on Thickson Road South, from south of Burns Street East to north of Nichol Avenue, will be in place throughout the project. The road closure will be on Burns Street East, from Thickson Road South to the west leg of Murkar Crescent.
- Why: For construction of a new northbound right turn lane and road resurfacing on Thickson Road. Construction work will also include a watermain relocation, storm sewer, and intersection and traffic light improvement.
Businesses will remain open for the duration of construction. The region said it realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are reminded to exercise additional caution. Access for local traffic and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Oshawa Road Closures
Gibbons Street in Oshawa will be closed to through traffic. There will be no through access for emergency vehicles too. Temporary conditions signs will be posted in accordance with provincial standards.
- When: From July 4, 2022 until July 7, 2022
- Where: between Adelaide Ave W and Miller Ave
- Why: to install sanitary and water services
Darcy Street: The City of Oshawa is advising residents of road closure on Darcy Street, between Juniper Street and Oshawa Boulevard North.
- When: June 2 to December 31. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
- Where: Darcy Street, between Juniper Street and Oshawa Boulevard North.
- Why: To replace the existing culvert.
Harmony Road North: The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of road closures on Harmony Road North (Regional Road 33) in the City of Oshawa.
- When: July 16 to 18. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule
- Where: North and southbound lanes will be closed on Harmony Road North from Winchester Road East (Regional Road 3) to Conlin Road East. The southbound lanes on Harmony Road North from Conlin Road East to Greenhill Avenue will also be closed.
- Why: To safely install water and sanitary services to support new development and perform repair to the existing water distribution system.
Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
