A $100 gift card to your favourite grocery store is up for grabs at Durham Region Waste App Contest, which is open until June 28.
To enter, download the Durham Region Waste app on App Store or Google Play to your mobile device. Whitby residents need to enter the contest by downloading the Whitby Waste Buddy app. Then, sign up for a reminder (via email, mobile, iCal, voice or text message) and enter the contest through the app, the region said in a statement.
One winner will be selected from each area municipality in Durham Region. Only one entry per person will be included, and winners will be randomly chosen. The contest closes at midnight on June 28, said a region statement.
Both apps can help you easily find information about waste in your municipality; with both the Durham Region Waste app and the Whitby Waste Buddy app, you can use your mobile phone to view schedules, and receive reminders about special pickups. Use the Whitby Waste Buddy app’s Waste Wizard tool or the Durham Region Waste app’s Know Before You Throw tool for helpful waste sorting tips. Convenient reminders can help ensure you never miss a garbage day again, it said.
The waste apps have also been a useful tool during Covid-19 to help provide updates regarding closures, event cancellations, facility changes and updated safety protocols.
