The Municipality of Clarington is urging residents of Newcastle to step up and help lead the Newcastle Community Hall into its next century.
The Newcastle Village Community Hall Board is seeking two new volunteer members to assist in the management and operation of the hall, which turned 100 in 2023. The position is a two-year term from January 2024 to January 2026.
An election will take place at a meeting at the Newcastle Community Hall on January 16, at 7 pm. All residents of the Village of Newcastle are invited to attend and vote, said a municipal statement.
“If you are a resident of the Village of Newcastle and are interested in seeking election to the board, please register with the hall at communityhallnewcastle@gmail.com prior to the meeting to have your name placed on the ballot,” said the statement.
