West Beach cottages to be demolished: Clarington

The Municipality of Clarington has announced that West Beach cottages near Port Darlington are to be demolished.

Clarington Council has directed staff to begin the demolition of two recently vacated cottages on West Beach Road in Bowmanville, said a municipal notice.

It said an inspection by municipal staff concluded that the cottages are unsafe for occupancy and would require extensive repairs to make them safe.

“In order to preserve the historical legacy of West Beach, staff will make a digital photographic record of the cottages before their demolition,” said the notice.
