A false disturbance created by two men and a youth for social media had police swarming Landmark Cinemas in Whitby.
On Tuesday, March 17, around 11:20 pm, members of Central West Division responded to an armed person call at the Landmark Cinemas located at 75 Consumers Drive.
Customers were forced to leave a movie theatre after several men yelled that someone was in possession of a firearm. Officers arrived on scene and were directed toward three men who had left the theatre.
Further investigation revealed that the males were creating social media content and had intentionally created a false disturbance to generate a reaction they could film. No injuries were reported to police.
The suspects were two 23 year old men as well a 17-year-old boy; all from Ajax.
All were released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
