Victim shot with BB gun as Snapchat watch sale goes wrong

Two men, under the guise of buying a watch from a deal on Snapchat, instead robbed the victim at gunpoint, with a BB gun, said Durham police.

On Friday, April 3, around 1:55 pm, members of West Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Delaney Drive and Westney Road in Ajax.

The victim used Snapchat to arrange a meeting with the suspect to sell him a watch.

Upon meeting, the victim gave the suspect the watch to try on. During the interaction, the suspect began walking back to his vehicle while still wearing the watch. When the victim demanded the suspect give back the watch, the suspect brandished a firearm and shot toward the victim several times.

The victim was struck once by what appeared to be a BB pellet.

The suspect fled to a waiting vehicle being driven by a second suspect. The suspect vehicle is described as a black SUV.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Anyone with cell phone, dash cam, surveillance footage or information about this incident is asked to contact the West Division Crime Team at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1901.
