Female with sword tasered, arrested in Oshawa

A Durham Police officer had to deploy his Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW or taser) after a 39-year-old female was found damaging property while armed with a sword on a residential street in Oshawa.

On Sunday, January 16, at approximately 9:30 pm, witnesses reported seeing a female on Centre Street and John Street damaging parked vehicles. The female was armed with a large sword and wouldn’t respond to the officer’s direction to drop it. When the female turned towards the officers with the sword an officer deployed his CEW. The female was disarmed and arrested, said a police statement.

The female was taken to a local hospital for an assessment and was medically cleared.

The 39-year-old female of No Fixed Address is charged with: Possession of Weapons Dangerous and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.
