Fundraiser target within reach for 24-year old assault victim

It’s just a couple of thousand dollars more to go to help support the family of the 24-year old Whitby resident, Thomas Holm, who was tragically killed after being assaulted in downtown Whitby on October 4th.

Some $14,804 had been raised from 113 donations till late last night against a target of $16,000. according to GoFundMe.

“It is with broken hearts that we share that the Holm/Harris/Lamb family has experienced an unimaginable tragedy. On Sunday October 5th, Thomas Holm, a beloved son/brother/grandson/nephew/friend, was stolen from this world at the young age of 24,” said the fundraiser website.

“Thomas lost his life when he succumbed to injuries after being the victim of a senseless act of violence. As you can imagine, this has left his family and friends devastated, with an immeasurable void in everyone’s lives.”

Wanted to be an Electrician

Thomas was a kind and loyal young man, with a big smile and even bigger heart. He recently returned to school with big dreams of becoming an electrician/owning his own business, and had dedicated much of himself to the Orthodox faith and the church he so loved. The way he will be remembered is when he was the happiest, spending his days in Newfoundland with his grandparents.

“We are humbly asking for assistance from anyone who loved Thomas/his family and are able to help out, in order to raise funds to cover the costs of any funeral expenses and memorial services, as well as any legal costs that may arise in the pursuit for justice for Thomas. In addition, any leftover funds will help support Thomas’ parents while they may have to take time off work to mourn, as they are currently living every parents’ worst nightmare,” reads the appeal launched by Amy-Chrystal Lamb.
