Oshawa hit-and-run driver urged to surrender

Durham police investigators are urging the suspect(s) from the Fail-to-Remain collision in Oshawa to consult a lawyer and turn themselves in.

A 14-year old Oshawa male remains in hospital with life threatening injuries. He was struck by a motor vehicle while riding an off-road motorcycle on Stevenson Road south of Conlin Road in Oshawa, said a media update by the police.

Light colored sedan with heavy front right damage left the scene, it added.

On February 17 at about 8:05 pm, members of Central West Division were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Stevenson Road south of Conlin Road in Oshawa. A male was found lying on the roadway next to an off-road motorcycle and appeared to have sustained serious injuries. The rider was treated at the scene by EMS and Oshawa Fire before being transported to a Toronto-area hospital with life-threatening injuries via air-ambulance, police said.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing a loud bang and observed what appeared to be a light -colored sedan with front right damage fleeing the scene, last seen driving southbound on Stevenson Road towards Taunton Road.

Investigators have spoken to numerous witnesses, canvassed video surveillance and collected numerous articles of evidence from the suspect vehicle which were sent for analysis.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
