Several schools in a Whitby area were put in a hold-and-secure yesterday morning on reports of an armed robbery in the vicinity, said Durham Regional Police Services (DRPS).
The Hold-and-Secures were later lifted at 10:15 am.
“Robbery Investigators and DRPS Central West Division officers are investigating an armed robbery in the area of Taunton Road E and Country Lane in Whitby,” said a DRPS statement.
“Several schools in the area have been placed in a hold and secure as we investigate. One male suffered injuries and [was] taken to local hospital,” it said earlier.
