Knife-wielder hits car, female student in bid to flee

An 18-year-old Courtice teen was arrested after an altercation involving a knife and a fail to remain collision in a parking lot on Nash Road in Courtice, Monday afternoon.

On November 1 at about 2:24 pm, members of East Division were called to a fail to remain collision at the Courtice High School parking lot on Nash Road. Police arrived to find a female victim with minor injuries. Further investigation revealed that there was an altercation between the suspect and another male in which a knife was produced by the suspect. The suspect pushed a female at the scene and then sped off in a black Honda. The vehicle fled the scene striking a school bus and then a female student prior to leaving, said a police statement.

Police identified the driver and he is now facing charges.

Mohmem Sadat, age 18, of Clarington is charged with: Assault with a Weapon: Assault; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance and Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace.

He was held for a bail hearing.
