Land for public sale in Uxbridge starting $121,945

The Township of Uxbridge if offering a plot of land for sale by public tender with the minimum bid kept at $121,945.

The land is being offered to the public to recover due taxes, according to the township’s tax department.

“According to the last returned assessment roll, the assessed value of the land is $214,000. Minimum tender amount: $121,945,” said a township notice.

The plot is located at 50 Third Avenue South.

The notice said tenders will be received until 3 pm local time on September 7, 2023, at the Township of Uxbridge Municipal Office, 51 Toronto Street South, Uxbridge. The tenders will then be opened in public on the same day as soon as possible after 3 pm at the Uxbridge Municipal Office.

Tenders must be accompanied by a deposit of at least 20 per cent of the tender amount.

The notice said responsibility for ascertaining the title to or any other matters relating to the land to be sold, rests with the potential purchasers. The assessed value, according to the last returned assessment roll, may or may not be representative of the current market value of the property.

It said the municipality has no obligation to provide vacant possession to the successful purchaser.

The land is prohibited for a non-Canadian to purchase, directly or indirectly.
