The City of Oshawa last week announced that Lakeview Park Beach is now open for the season.
It said Lakeview Park Beach will be staffed with lifeguards between 11:30 am and 6:30 pm, until Monday, September 2, weather and conditions permitting.
The free Lifejacket Loaner Program sponsored by Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority (HOPA Ports) is back this summer offering free access to lifejackets in various sizes and styles. Look for the Lifejacket Loaner Station sign near the beach hut. Lifejackets must be returned after each use. For more information, visit Oshawa.ca/Lifejacket.
Community members are reminded to check the Region of Durham’s posted beach closures at Durham.ca/beaches before their visit and to follow safe swimming guidelines.

Camp Samac pool
Take the plunge at Camp Samac outdoor pool, located at 275 Conlin Road. East. The pool will open for the season on Monday, June 24, until Labour Day (Monday, September 2).

Splash pads
The City of Oshawa has several splash pad options available throughout the city that are open daily from 10 am to 8 pm until Labour Day (Monday, September 2).
Becoming a Water Smart community
Most drownings are preventable in a Water Smart community. Educate yourself and others about water safety to enjoy water activities responsibly. Supervise children around water at all times
- Avoid consuming drugs and alcohol while participating in aquatic activities
- Always wear a lifejacket while boating
