Loaded gun, cocaine found in car after tip off

Durham Police said a 43-year-old male faces numerous firearm-related charges after an investigation in Oshawa Monday morning.

On October 10 at about 11:15 am, members from Central East Division were called to the area of Anderson Avenue and Rideau Street for reports of an armed male in a grey Chevrolet. Officers arrived and located the suspect and the suspect vehicle. The suspect was arrested without incident and police located a loaded firearm, ammunition, cocaine and other drug paraphernalia, said a police statement.

Steve Johnson, age 43, of Alwin Circle in Pickering faces 11 criminal charges including: Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm; Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm; Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number Has Been Tampered with; Transport Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulation and Possess Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking.

He was held for a bail hearing.
