Man veers into field during episode, dies later in hospital

Durham Police yesterday said a 58-year old male from Coldwater, Ontario has died after being involved in a single motor vehicle collision.

On Friday, September 16 at about 4:30 pm, members from North Division responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Region Road 10 in Sunderland Brock Township after receiving information that a black 2013 GMC Sierra pickup was eastbound on Region Road 10 when it left the roadway and drove off into a field, said a police report.

The male driver of the pickup truck was extricated and treated by EMS. During treatment, the male lost consciousness and later died in hospital. Investigators believe the driver may have suffered a medical episode prior to the collision, it said.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Anyone with information or dash cam video of this collision is asked to call Detective Constable Brett Rayne of the Traffic Services Branch at 905-579-1520 (toll free 1-888-579-1520) ext. 5256.
