Unnamed dog led rescuers to overdosed owner in woods

An unnamed dog helped save his owner’s life as he led rescuers to his collapsed owner in a wooded area.

The incident happened at the end of July and no further details were available at that time. Durham Post approached the police who said officers had been called for a possible VSA (vital signs absent) male in an off-the-road wooded area of Oshawa.

The person who called the police had come across a dog not on leash that led them to this man in the woods.

Officers arrived and located the male with shallow breathing. It was suspected to be a possible drug overdose and EMS attended, the police explained.

It said the male was in the wooded area away from the roadway and would not have been found if not for the dog alerting people.

The individual was transported to a local hospital. The dog was taken to animal control for safe keeping until picked up by owner.

Dogs real name unknown, the police said.

“This dog saved his owner’s life tonight in Oshawa,” said a police tweet at that time.
