It is not just the brave and canny police service dogs (PSDs) of Durham Regional Police (DRPS) K-9 Unit, but also some neighbourhood dogs that can truly be Durham heroes.
They may not catch perpetrators or sniff out a stash of cocaine, but there is one dog in Oshawa who helped save his owner’s life at night.
Though details are sparse, DRPS Central East Division officers commended the unnamed dog.
“This dog saved his owner’s life tonight in Oshawa,” said a tweet from them.
Had the dog not remained on scene and got the attention of passersby and bystanders, his owner would have not been located while undergoing medical distress, the tweet added.
No further details were available till late last night.
