Man falls off pier, boards boat, and sails away

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday had a strange encounter.

It reported that a man fell off a pier at Frenchman’s Bay, and was then seen boarding a boat and sailing away.

“A 64-year-old Pickering male is facing an impaired charge after he was seen falling off a pier at Frenchman’s Bay before boarding his boat and sailing into Lake Ontario,” DRPS said in a tweet.

Officers responded and the male was charged with impaired operation, it added.

DRPS reminded residents that drinking and boating is “dangerous to yourself and others and our officers will be out patrolling the waterways all summer to keep everyone safe”.
