On Saturday, November 7, a 31-year-old Whitby male was arrested and charged after he sexually assaulted a woman he met online.
The accused met the female victim on an online dating app and they spoke for approximately a week before arranging a coffee date in the area of Water Street and S Blair Street in Whitby. While in this area, the accused then sexually assaulted the female. The victim was taken to local hospital where she was treated for physical injuries and police were contacted, police said.
Vassos (Bill) Hadjigeorgiou of Rossland Road West in Whitby is charged with: Sexual Assault Cause Bodily Harm; Sexual Assault with Choking and Assault. He was held for a bail hearing.
Investigators want to ensure there are no further victims and would like to speak to anyone who may have new information. The suspect also goes by the names Bill or Vasile online.
