Durham Police yesterday said a male is in custody following an investigation into the sexual luring of a 14-year-old female.
On Wednesday, April 3, members of the DRPS Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) arrested an adult male after an investigation into the luring of a 14-year-old female through Facebook messenger.
An analysis of the suspect’s phone confirmed that between February and March this year, the suspect requested sexually explicit photos and inappropriate physical contact from the youth. Further investigation revealed the possibility of other victims, said a police statement.
The suspect, age 33 from Whitby was charged and held for a bail hearing. Police have concerns there may be other victims and are requesting anyone with information to come forward to investigators.
