Durham police yesterday said the 23-year-old male wanted after striking officers while fleeing police has been arrested.
On Tuesday, September 22 at about 1:05 am, members of Central East Division on proactive patrol observed an Acura sedan travelling on Simcoe Street North with no lights at a high rate of speed.
Officers initiated a traffic stop; however, the vehicle fled the area, failing to stop for police.
Officers searched the area and located the vehicle parked unoccupied in a residential driveway.
After a brief search of the neighbourhood, the driver was located hiding in a backyard and taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle located a replica firearm, and drugs. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was on conditions not to have care or control of a motor vehicle and remain in his residence at night.
