Medical episode ends in three-car crash, driver serious

A 62-year-old driver suffered a medical episode which led to a three-vehicle collision Sunday morning in Oshawa.

On February 26 at about 11:45 am, officers from Central East Division were called to Gibb Street near Grenfell Street in Oshawa for a three-vehicle head on collision. A vehicle being operated by a 62-year-old driver was travelling westbound on Gibb Street, when the driver suffered a medical episode, said a police statement

The vehicle then crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a vehicle. That vehicle then struck another eastbound vehicle, it added.

The driver was rushed to hospital where he was listed in serious condition. He was transferred to a Toronto-area hospital for follow up treatment where he remains in serious condition. The other parties received minor injuries, police said.
