Brock begins work on Beaverton’s Waterfront plan

The Township of Brock announced it has has begun working on a Waterfront Plan that will provide a long-term vision for the waterfront on Lake Simcoe and the open space lands that connect Downtown Beaverton to the harbour on Lake Simcoe.

“The objectives are to strengthen the role of the waterfront as a community and recreation hub; stimulate tourism and economic development; increase connections to Downtown Beaverton; and ensure its continued vitality for future generations,” said a township statement.

As part of the first phase of the project, the team is working to gather background information to identify opportunities and challenges. The township is asking residents to join an in-person community information session and workshop on March 8, at 6:30 pm at Foster Hewitt Memorial Community Centre (Beaverton arena) at 176 Main Street, Beaverton to share any thoughts on Beaverton’s waterfront.

The information session and workshop will begin with a presentation, followed by table group discussions to get input on the five areas of focus:

  1. The Beaverton Harbour,
  2. The fairgrounds,
  3. Lands along Simcoe Street,
  4. Mill Gateway Park, and
  5. Downtown Beaverton.
