Motorcyclist pushes officer and flees… but gets tased

Durham Police officers arrested a suspect after he fled on foot from police in Whitby on Saturday morning.

On September 11 at about 5 am, members of Central West Division were conducting patrols and stopped an un-plated motorcycle in the area of Consumers Road and Brock Street in Whitby. The driver became uncooperative, pushed the officer and fled on foot. During a brief foot pursuit, the suspect fell and when he got up, he ran at the officer. The officer used a CEW to gain control of the male and he was arrested without incident.

Tristan Clough, age 28, of Howes Street in Ajax is charged with: Obstruct Police; Assault with Intent to Resist; Fail to Comply with Probation Order; Drive Motor Vehicle – No License; Drive Motor Vehicle – No Plates and Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance.

He was released on an undertaking.

Suspect assaults neighbours over noise complaint

A 39-year-old man was arrested after assaulting his neighbours over a noise complaint in Pickering Thursday night.

On September 9 at approximately 10:50 pm, members from West Division were called to a residential street near Finch Avenue and Huntsmill Drive for a neighbour dispute. The suspect was involved in a verbal dispute with a teen neighbour over a noise complaint. The suspect then got involved in a verbal dispute with the teen’s family. The dispute escalated and the suspect assaulted a male adult and two female adults with a metal pole.

One of the female victims suffered head injuries and was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries. A second female victim suffered serious injuries and was treated at a local hospital. The male victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested the suspect, a 39-year-old male, of Pickering and he was charged with: Aggravated Assault x2; Assault Causing Bodily Harm; Possession of a Weapon and Assault with a Weapon x2. He was held for a bail hearing.

Man seriously injured in Oshawa shooting

One person suffered serious injuries after a shooting in Oshawa last Thursday morning.

On September 9 at about 11:50 am, members of Central East Division responded to a shooting at the intersection of Ritson Road North and Bond Street East. Officers arrived on scene and located a 25-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Information received as part of the investigation indicates the suspect(s), fired several shots at the victim’s vehicle before fleeing on foot. The suspect is described as male, black with short dreads.

The intersection was closed for several hours as members from the Forensic Investigative Services collected evidence.
