Unifor will open contract negotiations with General Motors today, Monday, August 10, at the Toronto Sheraton Centre.
Present will be Lana Payne, Unifor National President and Trevor Longpre, Unifor General Motors Master Bargaining Chairperson.
Unifor represents more than 4,600 members at Ontario GM facilities, including Oshawa Assembly, Ingersoll Assembly (CAMI), St. Catharines Propulsion and Woodstock Distribution Centre.
Between 2,000 2,400 GM Oshawa workers are members. Workforce at the Oshawa Assembly was cut with the ending of the third shift at the plant early this year.
Unifor is Canada’s largest union in the private sector, representing 320,000 workers in every major area of the economy.
