New Durham covid cases at 90; recoveries at 56

Durham Health posted 90 new Covid-19 cases for January 22, taking the region’s tally to 10,179 since the count began on February 29. Another three cases are under investigation.

Recoveries stand at 9,202, up by 56. There are 710 active covid cases.

There were:

  • 9 new cases in Pickering
  • 37 in Ajax
  • 5 in Whitby
  • 21 in Oshawa
  • 9 in Clarington
  • 6 in Uxbridge, and
  • Two in Scugog

Forty-eight cases are hospitalized with 15 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 662 people in home isolation. Total deaths stand at 267 of which 212 were in long term care homes (LTCHs)

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 2,992 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Total – 267              LTCH – 212

Of the 92 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 45 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Forty-one deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTCH
Of the 46 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTCH
Nine deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
23 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
Eleven deaths have been reported in Scugog, nine in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Brock
