Man kicks in front door, fires blanks, flees

A 25-year-old man was arrested for breaking into a home in Oshawa on Thursday morning.

On January 21 at about 6:00 am, members of East Division responded to a break and enter call on Grandview Street North in Oshawa. The suspect kicked in the front door of a residence attempting to gain entry, fired several blank shots and fled before police arrived. Police located an imitation handgun and shell casings near the home. Police searched the area and a suspect was located nearby, said a police statement.

Race Watson, age 25 of Woodstream Avenue in Oshawa, faces several charges, including: Mischief Under $5,000; Possess Weapons Dangerous to the Public; Possess Prohibited Firearm No Licence; Possess Prohibited Weapon Knowing Possession is Unauthorized; Fail to Comply Probation x2 and Attempt Break and Enter to a Dwelling.

He was held for a bail hearing.
