Crime Briefs: Sex assault, shots fired, collision

A self-employed Oshawa man has been charged after allegedly touching a young person inappropriately.

The male victim was working part time for Uncle Marty’s Scrap Metal in Oshawa in 2020. On several occasions, the 71-year-old self-employed man allegedly touched the teenager inappropriately while operating a business vehicle, during work hours throughout the Region of Durham, police said.

Martin White, age 71, of Erindale Crescent in Oshawa is charged with: Sexual Assault; Sexual Interference and Invitation to Sexual Touching. He was later released on an Undertaking.

Shots fired in Ajax

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said members of the West Division are investigating a shooting on Cedar Street in Ajax. It happened at 2 pm yesterday. Shell casings were found.

Oshawa Collision

DRPS yesterday had to close off Bond Street West between Fernhill Boulevard and Stevenson Road North and Stevenson Road North between Creighton Avenue and Bond Street West in Oshawa for accident investigation.

No further details were available till late last night.
