New daily covid cases drop from 124 to 65

Durham Health posted 65 new Covid-19 cases for January 21, taking the region’s tally to 10,088 since the count began on February 29. Another one case is under investigation.

Recoveries stand at 9,146, up by 133. There are 675 active covid cases.

There were:

  • 8 new cases in Pickering
  • 22 in Ajax
  • 10 in Whitby
  • 15 in Oshawa
  • 7 in Clarington
  • 3 in Uxbridge, and
  • One in Scugog

Forty-five cases are hospitalized with 14 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 630 people in home isolation. Total deaths stand at 267 of which 212 were in long term care homes (LTCHs)

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 2,955 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Total – 267              LTCH – 212

Of the 92 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 45 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Forty-one deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTCH
Of the 46 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTCH
Nine deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
23 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
Eleven deaths have been reported in Scugog, nine in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Brock
