New Durham website lists local PPE providers

As Durham Region businesses prepare to reopen during the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be a need for personal protective equipment (PPE), as required by provincial guidelines.

To assist with this process, the Durham Economic Task Force has risen to the occasion; creating an online resource of local PPE options and outlining safety guidelines from the Province of Ontario, said a media statement.

The Safety and PPE web page provides options from local Durham manufacturers who either sell, or have pivoted to produce, various types of PPE, it added.

This list of local area manufacturers is available on the Invest Durham website by visiting investdurham.ca > Covid-19 response > Business Supports > Safety and PPE.

The Durham Economic Task Force—comprised of local chambers of commerce, boards of trade and business improvement areas (BIAs), the Business Advisory Centre of Durham and economic development teams from each municipality—has allowed the business community to rally together; working as one cohesive task force to support local businesses, from across the region, during these challenging times.

“It has been incredible to see dozens of Durham’s businesses and organizations pivot their operations and come together to make PPE; to support the community through this crisis. These acts of innovation and kindness are what will help us all get through this more easily together. It will help position us for economic recovery,” said Simon Gill, Director of Economic Development and Tourism.
