Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said it will start issuing tickets to social gatherings of five or more people.
“We are taking a measured, education-focused approach to enforcing the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, but please be advised you can now be ticketed if you violate the orders: no social gatherings of 5+ people, no using park amenities and the closure of non-essential businesses,” DRPS said in a tweet yesterday.
“To report non-compliance, go to www.drps.ca and click Online Services and then Community Concerns,” it added.
DRPS on Wednesday clarified that it was NOT issuing tickets to 2+ people in a car.
Fines for violation of social distancing regulations start from $750 [see ‘Residents ignoring physical distancing: mayor’ below].
