A raft of road projects across Durham have been announced in recent weeks in an attempt to complete the roadworks ahead of winter.
The latest major road to face lane restrictions – this time until December – is Liverpool Road in the City of Pickering.
Restrictions on Brock Road are already in place until October 30, while there are restrictions on Simcoe, Albert, Park, Wilson and Adelaide roadways in Oshawa as well as on some roads in other Durham municipalities.
Yesterday Durham Region advised residents of lane restrictions on Liverpool Road (Regional Road 29) that are ongoing and will last until December, weather permitting.
The southbound curb lane will be restricted on Liverpool Road from the 401 off ramp (Walnut Lane extension) to Pickering Parkway in Pickering. The work will also impact the intersection of Pickering Parkway and Liverpool Road throughout the project.
Restrictions are needed to safely complete road widening, traffic signal modifications and work on the turn lanes in support of new development.
The region said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
