Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said West Division officers “attended a large car meet” in Pickering on Sunday afternoon.
“One male sustained injuries as a result of a physical confrontation.”
A DRPS tweet said police will be following up on this matter.
Apparently “thousands” had attended a car show.
Large gathering are currently forbidden under covid restrictions.
Pickering Mayor Dave Ryan criticised the gathering.
“C’mon folks. We know that lockdown has been difficult for all of us. However, let’s not be careless especially now that we can see light at the end of this long tunnel. We’re close to returning to some level of normalcy. Don’t do a disservice to the rest of our community,” he said in an event-related tweet.
The videos of the event are circulating on social media.
