Updated: One killed in collision on Simcoe Street

A 44-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at a local hospital following a head on motor-vehicle collision on Saturday afternoon, said the DRPS.

On November 9 at 2:26 pm, members of North Division were called to Simcoe Street and the 3rd Line in Scugog Township, regarding a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles.

A 2011 white Chevrolet Aveo being operated by a 44-year-old male who was travelling southbound on Simcoe Street when it veered into the path of a northbound grey 2019 Mazda CX5.

The 68-year old female driver of the Mazda suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the Aveo was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Members of the Collision Investigation Unit were called and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision, who have not already spoken to police.
