The Regional Municipality of Durham will be replacing deficient water service connections on several Oshawa Streets resulting in intermittent water interruptions to affected areas from mid-September onward.
The project includes replacement of existing polybutylene piping with new copper pipe and relocation of the water service valves to property line.
The contractor, Bry Ron Contracting Ltd., will mobilize crews in mid-September.
Affected streets include:
- St. Lawrence Street (works to end by September-end)
- Peggoty Circle, Steerforth Drive, Copperfield Drive, Dickens Drive and Corbetts Road (works projected to be completed by complete the work by mid-November)
- Oxford Street (works to end by September-end)
- Harmony Road (works projected to end by September-end)
Traffic Restrictions: All roadways will remain open to traffic during construction. Local residents should expect minor delays and are asked to drive cautiously for the safety of the construction workers, cyclists and pedestrians in the area. Access to residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible; however notification will be given to residents if vehicles need to be temporarily relocated out of the driveway to provide access for construction.
Temporary Water Service Interruptions: During the course of this work, residents will experience intermittent temporary water supply interruptions. The contractor will notify homeowners at least 24 hours in advance of any required service interruptions to give homeowners sufficient time to prepare. It is recommended that homeowners keep a supply of water in containers for drinking, cooking and general purposes during the service interruptions.
