Oshawa invites residents’ input on city budget

Oshawa residents and property owners are being invited to share their city budget priorities with members of council this September via several channels.

  • Face-to-face with their members of council at a ward town hall;
  • Online on Connect Oshawa; or,
  • On paper at Service Oshawa, located at 50 Centre St. S.

As a thank you, each Oshawa resident or property owner aged 18+ that participates in any of the above can choose to enter into a draw for the chance to win an iPad.

Ward Town Halls: Each town hall will run from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.

Each town hall will also be attended by staff from Building Services, Corporate Communications, Finance Services, Fire Services, Municipal Law Enforcement & Licensing Services, Operations (Snow and Waste), Recreation & Culture and Service Oshawa. The Ward 2 town hall will also include staff from the Oshawa Executive Airport.

Finance Services will provide a brief overview and education session on the City budget as well as an outline of the 2020 City budget process at approximately 7:15 p.m.

Residents can attend whichever town hall best fits their schedule, regardless of whether or not it is held in their ward. Find out what ward you live and your Council representatives in our online ward locator tool.

Connect Oshawa & Service Oshawa

Share your 2020 City budget priorities online on Connect Oshawa or on paper at Service Oshawa (50 Centre St. S.).

Feedback will be received until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20. Feedback received from the online and paper budget engagement opportunities will be shared with members of Council and City staff during the 2020 City budget process. All individual responses will be anonymous and will only be used to summarize overall feedback received from the public.

“The budget is our key planning document and provides a foundation to meet the public service needs of our community and to make decisions on City infrastructure,” said Mayor Dan Carter. “It is important for residents, property owners and business owners to share their priorities with Council at a town hall. Your voice matters and will help City Council communicate community needs during the 2020 City budget review.”
