Oshawa launches ‘Mayor for a Day’ contest

The City of Oshawa has launched ‘Mayor ofr a Day’ contest as part of the Local Government Week, celebrated province-wide between October 20 – 26.

Oshawa’s 2019 Local Government Week includes the Mayor for a Day contest and awareness campaign.

Mayor for a Day
Available for Oshawa students in grades 5, 6, and 7, the Mayor for a Day contest asks interested students to write a letter explaining why they would like to be mayor for a day and to detail their vision for the future of Oshawa. Submissions are due by midnight, Friday, November 1.

The winner will be notified via their school official on Thursday, November 7, and will enjoy many exciting privileges, including having the Mayor attend their school, a private tour of City Hall, lunch with the Mayor at their favourite Oshawa restaurant, and more.
