Oshawa plans major changes to Conlin Road

The City of Oshawa has retained CIMA+ to complete the detailed design for a single-lane and future multi-lane roundabout at the intersection of Conlin Road East and Grandview Street North.

Through the city’s Conlin Road East Environmental Assessment process, the intersection of Conlin Road East and Grandview Street North was identified as an intersection to be constructed as a roundabout. This form of intersection control was recommended because of its expected capacity and safety benefits, said a city statement.

Oshawa currently has the construction of the roundabout programmed in the forecast budget for 2024, subject to council approval. Design drawings are available for review. Residents knowledge of the area and input can help provide valuable information for finalizing the designs.

Community members are invited to request more information or address comments in writing to the City of Oshawa’s Engineering Services department or the engineering consultant at the addresses noted below. Feedback will be received until 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 17 , 2020.

Reconstruction

Oshawa is also proposing to reconstruct Conlin Road West from the west City limits to 250 metres west of Stevenson Road North. The works will include paved shoulders / bike lanes and multi-use path.

The Region of Durham will be constructing a new feedermain on Conlin Road West from Thickson Road to Stevenson Road North. The feedermain will provide system security and help to meet demands of current and future growth in the Whitby/Oshawa Urban Area. The scope of work will also include watermains and sanitary sewers on Conlin Road West and Thornton Road North, to be extended north in the future for local servicing.
