Flight fight leads to drugs and loaded gun + parolee arrest

Two men were arrested after drugs and firearms were found during a warrant investigation in Oshawa.

On Thursday, October 30, officers of the Durham Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and Provincial Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Unit (ROPE), found controlled substances during an investigation at a residence in the area of Oxford Street and Dwight Avenue.

The officers had obtained a warrant to arrest 37-year old wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for parole violation. The suspect was located at the residence and taken into custody without incident, police said.

During the arrest, a second male exited the residence and attempted to flee while carrying a backpack. The second suspect was apprehended after a physical confrontation with police and taken into custody. After obtaining a search warrant, police found a loaded firearm, and several drugs in the backpack.

The second suspect was held for a bail hearing while the parole violator was returned to a correctional facility for his outstanding parole violations. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
