Festive Trolley presented by Hamilton Oshawa Port Authority

Oshawa’s Bright and Merry Market opens on Thursday

The Bright and Merry Market is back full of holiday lights, sounds and festive cheer in the City of Oshawa.

This free annual event opens on Thursday, November 16 from 5 pm to 9 pm at City Hall, and along Centre Street from King Street to Memorial Park at John Street, said a city statement.

There will be live entertainment. Visitors can watch Memorial Park light up with the official tree lighting ceremony at 7 pm as well as a special visit with Santa. The city along with Oshawa Public Libraries, Oshawa Museum, Oshawa Senior Community Centres55+, The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa Tourism, and St. George’s Memorial Church have partnered to create an evening for activities, entertainment, food, crafts and more.

There will be many vendors selling homemade and artisan items. Hosted by the city, the market is a great way to support local businesses and shop for unique gifts and décor for the holiday season. There will also be lots of food choices available that you can enjoy on site, so come hungry.

The city encourages everyone attending to bring a non-perishable food item to support Feed the Need in Durham. Donation bins will located in all of the partner buildings as well as on Civic Square for the duration of the event.

“Come and join us at the Bright and Merry Market for an unforgettable outdoor holiday event in downtown Oshawa,” said Mayor Dan Carter. “Enjoy live entertainment, stay for the tree lighting and explore a variety of vendors. It’s a great family event and everyone is welcome!”
