Ottawa man was victim of Durham’s first 2022 murder

Durham Police investigators have confirmed the identity of the 20-year-old victim in Durham Region’s first homicide of 2022.

The victim has been identified as Saeid Mabrok Saeed Salem, age 20, of Ottawa, said a police statement.

On January 3 at about 9:42 pm. members of Central East Division responded to a call on Madison Avenue for a male found with obvious signs of trauma. The male later died in hospital.

Oshawa man face drug charges

One male suspect is facing drug charges following the execution of search warrants in Mississauga and Scarborough.

On January 4 members from the Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit concluded a drug trafficking investigation that commenced in fall of 2021. Officers arrested the suspect in Mississauga and police executed four search warrants at two homes in Mississauga (Rexwood Road) and Scarborough (Military Trail). Police seized a quantity of fentanyl, carfentanyl and cocaine with an approximate street value of $100,000

Amal Greensword, age 32 of Oshawa, is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x3 and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

He was held for a bail hearing.
