DRPS Traffic Services yesterday clarified that one of the most common excuses for speeding by motorists does not work with them.
“Common excuse: ‘Well I HAD to speed to pass the other car, they were only going 80!'” was the latest refrain from a driver in Pickering.
Durham Police Traffic services pointed out that Hwy 7/Whites Road in Pickering is a 80kmh zone. “The maximum speed is non-negotiable… it is the LIMIT”.
Meanwhile, on Brock Road, where it is a 60kmh construction zone with workers present, a driver was caught doing 112kmh (see image below).
“Slow down,” the police said.
