Pedestrian Update: Driver cooperating with police

A 34-year-old female pedestrian was seriously injured following a single motor-vehicle collision Monday evening in Ajax.

On October 25 at about 6:25 pm, members of West Division were called to Monarch Avenue and Charlton Crescent in Ajax, for a pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle, said a police statement.

A 2017 Ford Explorer operated by a 53-year-old female was travelling southbound on Monarch Avenue making a left turn onto Charlton Crescent and struck the pedestrian. The driver stopped her vehicle following the collision and provided assistance to the pedestrian.

Emergency Services attended and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, who was later transferred to a Toronto area Trauma Centre, she is listed in serious but stable condition [see yesterday’s story below].

The driver of the Ford Explorer is co-operating with the police investigation.

Members of the Collision Investigation Unit were called and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Police would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision, who have not already spoken to police.
