The summer’s here and people like to be out and about. Being a social species, they mingle and gather, and a sub-species – car and/or speed enthusiasts – are no different.
But all events must keep safety in mind at all times, and when it is a meet without proper approvals and regulation, law will be enforced as was done last Wednesday in Whitby.
Not only was an ‘unsanctioned’ gathering dispersed, but some charges were also laid, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).
On Friday, DRPS Traffic Services said members of DRPS Central West Division, in partnership with the Traffic Enforcement Unit, on Wednesday evening dispersed an unsanctioned car rally at the plaza located at 1450 Victoria Street East in the Town of Whitby.
“Charges laid and the crowd was dispersed,” police said without giving further details.
