Man, woman held for gun and drugs, kids placed with family

A male and female are facing charges after drugs and a firearm were located in a vehicle during a traffic stop in Whitby, said Durham Police.

On Wednesday, June 5 at about 4 pm, a member of Central West Division initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Garden Street and Rossland Road East.

The driver of the vehicle was determined to be breaching court ordered conditions by being in the company of the passenger. The driver was removed from the vehicle and arrested without incident. A search of the driver revealed multiple drugs in his possession and a search of the vehicle located a concealed firearm. The female passenger was subsequently also arrested without incident, said a police report.

Two children were present in the rear of the vehicle and placed in the care of a family member.

The man, age 35 from Whitby, and the woman, age 23 from Lindsay, were charged and held for a bail hearing. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
