Two duped Home Hardware of $11,000 in products

Durham Police yesterday said two males have been charged following an investigation into fraud at a hardware store in Clarington.

In May, two suspects used a fraudulent credit card to purchase numerous materials and tools valued at over $11,000 at the Home Hardware, located at 2423 Rundle Road.

On Thursday, May 23, members of the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) arrested the first suspect, and on Tuesday, June 4, arrested the second suspect.

One suspect, age 55 from Toronto, was charged and released on an undertaking.

The other suspect, age 58 from North York, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Police believe he may have defrauded more victims.
